Fiji put in a great performance in hard fought quarter
At 20 - 20 the game looked
to go either way with a rampant Fiji giving South Africa
cause to endlessly defend against relentless attacks.
In the end it was two structured forward moves that gave the Springboks
a hard earned
victory - Fiji went out in great style ....more

IRB World Cup 2007 - Pacific Island Teams:
*
Samoa won over the USA 25-21 and returned home.
* Tonga bowed out
to England in a passionate finale 20-36
and returned home.
* Fiji acheived
a great win 38-34 over a spirited Wales in a thrilling
nailbiter in Nantes.
Now for the first time since 1987, Fiji advanced to the World
Cup quarter finals.
They met South Africa on Sunday 7th October 2007 in Marseille,
France.
South Africa played against all three Pacific Island Teams:Samoa,
Tonga and Fiji.
Fijian first five and all time top scorer Nicky Little was out
of all Rugby for 6 weeks following a damaged knee suffered during
the last minutes of the game against Wales...
Fiji then played South Africa as reported above...
South Africa won 37-20 and Fiji returned home.
World Cup Final:
South Africa wins the World Cup
2007 15-6
In a tense match with England,
the Springbok's defence held up throughout.
In a final that saw a try disallowed to England - neither team
dottted down, South Africa winning 15-6. South Africa led at halftime
9-3.
4 tries were scored in the 87 final (NZ 3), none in 1995, and
no more than 2 since 87, this was a true final with few points
scored.
South Africa during the tournament played Samoa, Tonga and Fiji
in it's journey....

ENGLAND FIRST FINALISTS
England ground out a win over France 14-9 to win the first semi-final
in Paris.
Jonny Wilkison again proved his worth by calmly snatching a penalty
at 75 mins then a DG at 78 mins.
The six points proved to be winners as France was forced to score
a try to tie the game or a converted try to win - it didn't happen
and England are into the final....more
