Islanders confirm Sitiveni Rabuka as manager for 2008 Northern Tour
Pacific
Rugby Limited have named former Fijian prime minister Sitiveni Rabuka
as manager of the forthcoming tour to England, France and Italy.
Rabuka is a former Fiji Prime Minister but is no stranger to rugby
union having played Test rugby twice for Fiji as a prop forward
in the 1970s. He is also a Trustee of the Fiji Rugby Union.
Rabuka was very happy with his appointment:
“It
is an honour to be named as manager for the Pacific Islanders combined
side – I am both delighted and very humbled.
I intend to use all my experience to ensure the squad is a contented
and every member can perform to the best of their ability –
that is what it is all about.
The
combined Pacific Islands squad is a great concept that gives us
a vital opportunity to show what we can do against Tier One nations”.
Keni Dakuidreketi, Chairman, Pacific Rugby Ltd said Rabuka was the
right man for the job:
“We
are privileged to have Sitiveni as manager; he was selected for
his management skills, knowledge of rugby and support for the Pacific
Islander concept”.
