The
match was arranged for a 6.30pm local time kick-off to give both
teams experience of playing under lights, something they will have
to do at the IRB Under 19 World Championship 2007, which runs from
4-21 April in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Fiji
failed to find rhythm and made basic errors in the victory over
their fellow Islanders, who they had beaten 22-14 in the Division
B final in Dubai last year to win promotion and earn matches against
South Africa, defending champions Australia and Scotland.
“There
were basic mistakes which were committed and this needs to be rectified.
There were other factors too such as the players were playing their
first international match and also under the lights,” High
Performance Unit manager Peter Murphy told the Fiji Times.
