DIGICEL
Pacific Islanders
Update
14 November
The Digicel
Pacific Islanders have started training in earnest for their clash
with Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.
They travelled
from Cardiff on Sunday and had a light run on Monday before getting
into more intense sessions on Tuesday. The weather conditions have
changed markedly with the boys training at a cold and windy Peffermill
complex. They have managed to avoid the rain that is lurking in
the dark clouds above.
A few niggling
injuries are around but no one is in doubt for Saturday’s
Test. Everybody has taken part in the sessions which have ranged
from conditioning oriented to contact work with pads.
The forwards
in particular have trained strongly. Forwards mentor Mike Casey
commented today that his props especially were jumping out of their
skins waiting for Saturday’s game:
“The guys
are training really well. They are listening and making every effort
to improve in all facets of play.
“They
are studying videos in their time off and generally soaking up the
knowledge of those around them”.
The side to
play Scotland will be announced on Thursday at a press conference
at the Digicel Pacific Islanders base at Kings Manor a few kilometres
outside of Edinburgh.
The Digicel
Pacific Islanders play Scotland at Murrayfield on 18 November before
playing Ireland at Landsdowne Road on Sunday 26 November.
